Resources for Disaffiliation and Beyond.
|
Given synodical decisions in recent years, many leaders, clergy, and congregations have felt the push and call for separating from the Christian Reformed Church in North America. Those in the first wave of disaffiliation have developed and shared resources for mutual support in the journey. We hope these resources will continue to serve those discerning the need to disaffiliate in a second wave of departures.

The Leaving the CRC website offers resources on discernment and disaffiliation for both congregations and clergy, including:
Manna List: Funding Vulnerable MinistriesTo help vulnerable missions and missionaries continue ministry when losing funding due to disaffiliations, we have invited those who have lost funding due to dissent to make their case on a list of ministries in need. Criteria include:
If you or your church can support vulnerable ministries, view the list and support them directly If you are a vulnerable ministry, fill out the form and be added to the list automatically |
The CRC2RCA website offers resources on joining the Reformed Church in America. Since the RCA is the mother denomination of the CRC, and they uniquely share so much history, theology, and practice in common, the RCA has been a particularly attractive new home for both clergy and congregations. Clergy have especially found several classis in the RCA to be safe new homes for their credentials.
Toward CRC CanadaThe Canadian and USA contexts are vastly different for clergy and congregations seeking new homes. The options available are not at all the same on both sides of the border. Recognizing the distinct legal, cultural, and ministry needs of Canada and the U.S., a single, cross-border structure is no longer effective. Therefore, we seek to establish a structure that allows the CRC in Canada to address its challenges independently, ensuring it can faithfully live out its mission in a way that aligns with its context.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).
Other Groups
|
Several other groups and associations have formed organically for those on this journey to find community.

Since the first wave of disaffiliations have largely completed or are well under way, this project seeks new leadership from the second wave of those who are now beginning the journey of disaffiliation. If you have questions or ideas for resources, email us at firstwavesteering@gmail.com.
